Reclaim those beautiful solitary roof top views? There is no better way then with the PierdeX® decking underlayment Outdoor Floor System™. What sets it apart? Light weight creative flexibility to start. Enjoy the ancient beauty of stone decking in rooftop spaces that wouldn't normally support the weight of a stone deck material. So let's take it a step at a time. STEP 1:
review existing rooftop decking or sub-decking
and waterproofing conditions. Adequate structural support is required. In most cases, all roof top decks are designed for normal foot traffic. And since the PierdeX® pedestal deck is lightweight–8-12 lbs/sq' with a thin-gauged stone–this deck system will not overload standard structural conditions. This is an added benefit for seismic regions. Be sure to have a professional evaluate the rooftop waterproof condition. Now STEP 2:
set the new PierdeX® pedestal deck
over the waterproofing. This system makes only 4-points of contact. This allows the PierdeX® pedestal deck to float over surface projections to create a level rooftop floor over an uneven surface. It's quite simple. Establish a grid pattern matching the 32" square panels. Determine the height of the 1st panel. Cut the 4" ABS pipe to length and connect to the Ped-Tite® pedestal decking connectors. Once set, level from this PierdeX® panel and set all remaining panels. Cut as necessary for unusual shapes. Be sure the perimeter is contained by a curb (required for stability). This decking material is UV stable and ready to walk on. But why wait? let's dress it up. STEP 3:
surface with stone, tile or pavers for a roof deck, rooftop terrace or roof room
that brings the indoors-outdoors together. Get creative! Select the stone or tile of your choice from your local supplier. They will be able to suggest materials suitable for your area. Pick a layout pattern, apply the Hold-Tite® adhesive to the back of the material and set it in place onto the PierdeX® pedestal underlayment. Want simplicity? PierdeX® was designed with a square dimension to fit 4-16"x16" stone/tile edge to edge– no cutting. For smooth backed stone/tile us the Hold-Tite® CS peel-n-stick adhesive for a fast, clean installation. Use tile spacers to ensure uniform spacing in more complex installations. No grouting so the water drains through to the surface below. Remove each panel individually at any time. And you are done. Best of all there's still time left in the day. STEP 4:
relax and enjoy your roof deck and rooftop living
in peace knowing that this finished rooftop floor won't need your attention for a long time to come.
